Denim Style
I really like this denim trend lately! You can wear it and style it in countless ways - from classy to alternative. It´s very versatile. The word "denim" actually derives from the french term "serge the Nimes", reffering to the city of Nimes where they created a fabric similar to the cotton. Denim was traditionally colored in indigo blue color to create "jeans". The word "jeans" comes from the french word for the city Genoa, Italy (Genes), where the first "jeans" were created. The fabric was later imported by Levi Strauss in USA and introduced to the workers in California in the 19th century. This is how "blue jeans" were born. Jeans are worn nowadays by people of all ages, all around the world. To many, jeans are their favourite piece of clothing. But what makes jeans so special and how did it become so popular?
First worn by the american farmers, cowboys and workers, jeans soon became the symbol of freedom and rebellion. This spirit was captured by Marlon Brando in the movie "The Wild One", 1953, and James Dean in "Rebel without the cause". They were viewed mostly as "bad boy clothes". In the 1950s and 1960s jeans represented a symbol of nonconformism and the unbroken spirit and were evan banned in some schools.
